Sunday Stash June 24, 2018 Scraps+

This week was a rough one. Have I said that before? Probably.
I did put a narrow grey border on the Carpenters Wheel. I still have to decide how big I want that quilt to be. Should it be a wall hanging or bed quilt. I also finished sewing together the blocks on X-marks the blocks and put the first border on. What color would you suggest for the final border?

20 crumb blocks finished as well. Crumbs are 5",  6.5", and 8.5".
I have 58 so far. These will be for Charity quilts. I will work on these throughout
the year.

Spent the rest of the week trying to figure out how to make my daughter  a messenger bag. I have not sewn a stitch. I am having problems with the fabric. The design on the fabric I ordered from Spoonflower was so big that I can't use it for this. It is also to beautiful to cut up in little pieces. I will make a lap quilt with it. I can't show it to you because I don't want her to see it.

So I ordered more fabric. The fabric I ordered was  from Cotton and Steel. Vertical and horizontal rows, black and a thin cream design of owls. The print is off by an full inch. My daughters OCD for all things crooked is epic. It makes her very uncomfortable and she can't stop looking at it. So what to do now. Well I trashed my sewing room trying to find something suitable. I am going to visit her in a couple weeks and want to get this done. It is for her walker. I may settle for something with all over pattern and use the other fabric inside the bag. I dare her to shove her head in there to stare at it! LOL!!!

I did buy fabric this week. It was 1/2 yards of solids. I didn't have anything bright in the way of solids. Now I do. I have been eyeing all those quilts with bright solids. Sure, I need another project. Don't You!

Father's Day & Sunday Stash report June 17, 2018

Happy Father's Day to all the dads.
My poor hubby ended up working on both our cars today. His radiator connections dry rotted from the Florida heat and one stem broke off on Friday. He was not amused. Then he borrowed my car to go to work on Saturday and my tired was just about flat. Hissss. He had already planned to change the pulley and belt on my car because he found out the squeak was unbearable when you drive that car 300 miles. LOL!
He spent 3 hours fixing my pulley. So I took the car to Walmart to get the tire fixed. No charge because I had the road hazard insurance.
Hopefully we are done with car issues for a while.

Tomorrow is our 45th Anniversary. Time has flown by. With all the ups and downs in our lives, I am glad we are still together. He is a keeper! ❤️❤️

Happy Mail & Sunday Stash June 10, 2018

Craziness since last Sunday. One thing after another. I just came up for air.

I received some Happy Mail. Robin at Rsislandcrafts was doing a give-a-way to celebrated 5000 subscribers. I happen to be out with a friend and was waiting for her in the lobby. I decided to see what new post Robin may have put up. I actually caught the live post. She was having the random counter pick the name. There was My Name. What!!! Happy Dance for sure. This made my day!! The prize is a lovely wall hanging made by Robin. It is hanging on the door into my sewing room. I it see everyday, all day long.

Along with the beautiful wall hanging, Robin sent me some goodies!
Thank you so much, Robin.

As for the pink quilt, I turned it into Charity Sew group. UFO is gone!

This week I have been working on 2 flannel pajama shorts for my SIL. It's his birthday next week. He really likes the ones I made him for Christmas. Hopefully he will enjoy these.

My sister in law brought me the quilt her mother and her started hand sewing in 1983, when she was pregnant with her first daughter. Her mother passed away over 25 years ago. She can't finish it because of issues with her hands. I said I would finish it but I only do machine quilting. She was okay with that. The quilt is browns and blues sampler. The hand stitching is large stitches but very minimal.  The batting is very thin poly, which worries me. I can't take it apart because her mothers loving stitches are in there and not replaceable . My sister in law will be a grandmother for the first time in September and wants to give the quilt to her daughter by the time the baby is born. I will do my best to get it done.
I don't know if I should do more quilting next to the hand stitching. Thread looks like it is so old that it may fall apart.

Would like your opinions on what to do with this quilt.

SundayStash 6/3/2018 & OMG June

This was a very busy month with graduations and birthdays.
I didn't start the OMG/UFO until May 30th. The Pink Baby quilt is quilted and trimmed but needs the binding.  I am going to use black with white dots. This poor little quilt is butt ugly. It is a UFO from around 2000. It will go the Charity quilts on Wednesday.

Poor Pinky!

I sewed my X-Marks the block into 4 patches but that is as I got. It rained and rained so I never got to the guild charity sew last Wednesday. My machine was in the car but my umbrella and jacket were at my daughters house. Every time I tried to leave that house it rain so hard the street flooded. I gave up at 10:30. It didn't stop raining until 2:30 in the afternoon

OMG for June - Birthday Sewing

2 pairs of PJ shorts with patch pockets.
Backpack/walker bag.
UFO is accordion Carpenters Wheel - finish boarders and sandwich.

Also my sister-in-law asked me to finish a quilt her mother started when she was pregnant with her daughter. She is now 34. Her other daughter is having her first child,  due in September. We hope to finish it before the shower. I have not seen it in 25 years so I don't know how much is left to be done. they were hand sewing it.  I have no hand skills to speak of. I DO NOT do hand sewing. So If she wants it finished I will do it by machine. If she wants it by hand she will have to tackle this herself.
